Disc Dog Gauntlet Rules:
Any
dog safe disc may be used, such as a standard variety of K-10, Fastback,
Hero, or Aerobie or floppy.
Dogs
must start with a paw in the throwing box, but then can be released.
Handlers must remain in the throwing box until they are finished with that
obstacle, unless they must retrieve a disc to take their “Do-Over” on that
Obstacle.
A
team is given one chance to complete each obstacle. Each team gets one
“Do-Over” per round. They can choose to use it before leaving the throwing
box of any of the four obstacles. If a team chooses to use the “Do-Over”,
the "Do-Over" score will be the one marked on their score sheet.
Teams are scored by clearing the obstacle, and getting a catch. Scores from
all four obstacles are added together.
The obstacles will be run in order as shown in the
diagram below.
In the
event of a field interruption, the judge will make a decision and instruct
you regarding your options. Nature breaks will be cleaned immediately.
In
case of a tie in the second round for a prize winning placement, a coin will
be tossed; the winner of the toss can either choose an obstacle or choose to
throw first or second. The loser of the coin toss will choose the option
that the coin toss winner does not choose. Then it is sudden death at that
obstacle until one team outscores the other. In the event of a 3-way
tie (or more), straws will be drawn to determine run order and the person
who selects the #1 throwing position will select the obstacle.
Note: To expedite this event there will be two judges and two teams on the field
at once. As soon as a team completes the #2 obstacle and proceeds to #3, the next team will
start the #1 obstacle. Be on the spot and have your dog walked and ready.

inside the throwing box, the disc must go through the window, then the dog must
catch it.
• Complete the catch past the distance of the window = 2pts.
• Complete the window with no catch = 2 pts.
• Complete the obstacle = 6pts.
#2 Pole Position: From the throwing box a handler must throw the disc
around the pole
(left or right) and the dog must catch it with at least one foot inside the line of the landing zone
during the catch or jumping catch and landing.
• Complete a throw and catch past the distance and outside the landing zone = 2
pts.
• Complete a throw that goes around the pole and lands in the landing
zone, no catch = 2pts.
• Complete the obstacle = 6 pts
#3 Limbo Skip: From the throwing box the handler must skip the disc under
the bar and then the dog must make a catch.
• Complete the skip under the bar, but no catch = 2pts.
• Complete a skip and catch but skip does not go under the bar = 2pts.
• Complete the obstacle = 6pts.
#4 Accuracy: Handler must throw from the throwing box, to score points
they must have the catch or jumping catch’s landing fall with one paw inside the
line of a scoring zone.
• Complete a catch in the Small close zone = 3pts.
• Complete a catch in the Large zone = 2pts.
• Complete a catch in the Bulls eye Zone = 6pts.
